What you'll do
With over a 300 year history, from the Revolutionary War to its revitalization in the past 50 years, come experience Philadelphia with me.
Every building has a story to tell, from the materials, technology, and styles favored when it was constructed, to the people who designed, built, lived and worked there. Events of historic proportion take place in and around buildings as well. Come with me on this journey to discover all the secrets each building on our tour is waiting to tell us.
We will be walking through Old City and Society Hill, visiting the oldest continuously occupied residential street in the United States, and seeing the same buildings the Founding Fathers worked and worshiped in. Whether your interest is architecture, American History, visiting the places where Ben Franklin and George Washington lived and worked, or humming a tune from the Hamilton play as we experience Philadelphia as the Capitol of the United States, this tour is for you!
Other things to note
Bring cameras as there is much to photograph. Snacks that you like are good to have, or there are plenty of stores along the way. A hat and comfortable shoes are also a good idea to wear.

I am a Registered Architect who has lived in the City of Philadelphia since 1978. After taking a walking tour with famed City Planner Ed Bacon, I was inspired to give similar experiences of the city.
Currently residing in the Old City area of Philadelphia, I would love to introduce you to the only World Heritage City in the U.S.

I lucked out with a private tour of historic Philadelphia! Reid has done a great job if combining his interest and knowledge with stories and complementary materials (maps and infographics) to make three hours fly by. He was attentive to needs too, like a bathroom (not easy in pandemic times!), warm drink, picking warmer or quieter spots for better hearing. This tour whetted my appetite for spending more time in Philadelphia.

Thanks for a super thorough tour! The tour mostly focuses on historical context of Philly’s older architecture, which Reid was super knowledgeable about. Would definitely recommend for history buffs and those looking to learn about history unique a to Philadelphia!

I was in Philly visiting graduate schools to study architecture. I was on a very tight schedule so when I saw this tour to see the city from the sidewalks I jumped. Reid was very knowledgeable and quite enthusiastic. He was accommodating to the other guests as some people had to leave half way through. But even after that and taking the tour solo it was still a very interesting time! Will take more tours from Reid next time I'm in Philly.

Very detailed explanation of the history behind the buildings we walked pass during the tour. As a former architect, Reid also has knowledge in architecture of the historic buildings which is really interesting. He also adjusted the tour for me personally to make sure I'm not overwhelmed by the content. He is truly an expert! Highly recommend!
