What you'll do

If you're seeking out the perfect mix of classic and hidden SF, this urban hike is for you!

We'll start in Levi's Plaza in beautiful bayside North Beach. We'll then use the epic Filbert Steps to climb up to Coit Tower and enjoy views reaching from the Bay Bridge to the Golden Gate Bridge. (Don't worry, we'll make some stops along the way to take photos, catch our breath, and enjoy the views.)

After that, we visit a tiny hidden park with a view of the Golden Gate Bridge, the Bay Bridge, and the bay. From there, we explore a dizzying maze of stairways and alleyways, including a dirt road in the middle of the city and Macondray Lane, which spawned the Tales of the City books, movie, and Netflix series.

We'll zig zag our way up San Francisco’s most famous street—Lombard Street—and visit my personal favorite view of downtown SF (and I know a lot of viewpoints). Toward the end of our hike, we check out beautiful Saints Peter and Paul Church where Joe DiMaggio and Marylin Monroe shot their wedding photos.

And lastly, we make our climb back to Coit Tower and head back down to Levi's Plaza on the gorgeous Greenwich Street Steps.
Other things to note
Wear comfortable shoes and clothing and bring layers as weather can change quickly. A few restrooms are available throughout the hike.

I run an urban hiking company, sharing the city’s stairways, hills, and trails with people from around the world. I also wrote the city’s only hiking guidebook, "Urban Trails: San Francisco." I have a staff of talented guides who run my tours with me. On our hike, you might be matched with me as a guide or with Val, Kevin, or Faris.
