What you'll do

“Look over there, it seems like a Vermeer painting.. I guess he felt this way!”
This is the kind of guide I am and the kind of feelings I would like you to feel.

The “Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga” is one of the most visited museums in Portugal.
We will visit the garden of the museum first, breathing clean air and enjoying the warm weather. This is one of the most beautiful spots in Lisbon and embraces amazing trees and plants. Every of them has a story and several curiosities I will talk to you about.
After that, we will visit the museum, taking a deeper look into the Italian and German renaissance, the Ducth golden age, Baroque period and Realism. In the end, we will analyze the Portuguese art with Domingos Sequeira.

Here the list of artists we will talk about:

- Piero della Francesca
- Hieronymus Bosch
- Albrecht Duerer
- Gregorio Lopes
- Lucas Granach
- Antoon Van Dyck
- Pieter de Hooch,
- Godfried Schalcken
- Giambattista Tiepolo
- Courbet
- Domingos Sequeira

Every style tells something about Portugal and European history, since everything is related. We will try to understand together how the painter could have felt while drawing and what led him through some details.
Other things to note
I will provide the tickets before we start the visit

I’m Italian and I live in Lisbon since 2017. I graduated in foreign languages and art history and then decided to travel around, living in Turin and Berlin, where I studied and had internship. I work as Team Manager in a touristic company, where I improved my management skills. One of my biggest passions is gardening , an heritage I got from my homeland, which helped me to be patient and taught me to observe carefully to the details.
What makes art history interesting to me is the feeling that guided the painters thought every brush stroke. Studying them and their lives makes me closer to them and to feel the same, even if I am better as guide then as artist. I can guide your through the paintings and the choice of every plant in them, and those in the garden of the museum too. Every season is amazing here, and plants know it better!
