See the top attractions in Edinburgh with a local guide and discover hidden gems to explore during your trip.

Hosting two UNESCO world heritage sights and more listed buildings than anywhere else in the world, Edinburgh is a city rich in culture and history. With so much to do, it can be difficult to know where to start. But not to worry - John is here to help. A well-reviewed local guide with a deep love of his city, John will take you on a whistle stop tour of Edinburgh’s best sites and attractions and introduce you to some of his favourite spots.

Starting at Edinburgh Castle, John will lead you down the Royal Mile and through Edinburgh’s Old Town towards the Scottish Parliament building and Holyrood Park. You will walk the same streets as activists, poets, criminals, and royalty, and learn about the events which have shaped the city. Then, as you briefly escape the bustle of Edinburgh’s city centre, breathe in the crisp air of Holyrood Park and discover how Edinburgh began.

During the tour, John will be giving plenty of local recommendations, from activities and little-known haunts to restaurants and pubs. He loves sharing his local knowledge, so feel free to ask him lots of questions!

Our inclusive, small tour sizes (groups limited to 10 people) provide the perfect experience for history fans, groups and families!

We had a fantastic tour with Jon! He was friendly, engaging, had loads of stories to tell about the sights and was very knowledgeable - never seeming like he was reading from a script.

John was a humorous and amiable chap who gave us a decent overview of the main sights of the city. We were interested to learn about the old market place and the Scott monument. John was very good at answering our questions which divulged even more information about the city, such as the watchtowers by the cemeteries. I feel like there was a bit more room to fit in even more interesting facts about the city, as there must be loads. Overall a decent tour.

We had a fantastic tour with John. The entire tour felt conversational and not like a script being followed. He made time to answer any and all the questions we had. John’s knowledge of Edinburgh and its history was incredible! Definitely would recommend! Thank you!

Great walking tour in Edinburgh with John, It felt like a friend showing us around which made us comfortable. He had a chilled, informative and funny approach to showing us around the city and also letting us know where the good food spots are on the way! We started at Castlehill and ended our tour at Arthur's seat which was perfect as we planned to climb it the same day.

This tour really drew on a personal touch to Edinburgh and made us at ease with the city we are visiting. John’s exuberance and personality really brightened up the tour and kept it energised. COVID-19 restrictions definitely limited entrance and movement to places, but this is easing it seems, so John adapted as we went along. Proceeds go to a charity (Child.org) so glad to have taken this tour - and would recommend to any person visiting for the first time. Mitch and Leila
