What you'll do

Our team of huskies will take you on an adventure trail through alpine forest, covering anywhere from 4 to 12 miles. You'll need to dress warm as temperatures will range from 0-35 degrees F. Remember, there's no such thing as too cold, just underdressed!

We will rendezvous at the trailhead in the northern Bighorns, approximately 45 minutes away from Sheridan. (you will be responsible for your own transportation to the trailhead. Access is by a well-maintained state highway (HWY14.)) Upon arrival, we'll go over the sledding equipment, and have a short tutorial about what to expect on the trail. Then, we'll get the dogs harnessed and hooked to the sled. From there, the dogs take over.

You'll be energized by the excitement of the dogs as they get hooked up to the sled, and amazed at how they harness all that noisy energy into a silent and focused powerful team covering miles of remote, snow-covered terrain. You'll feel connected to both the dogs and the natural landscape.

We'll warm up with hot food and drinks upon return to the parking area before departing the mountain.
Other things to note
Your dog sled experience will be tailored to your interest. You can choose to sit and ride as a passenger in the dog sled, or you can drive your own team of dogs. Driving a team of dogs is physically demanding, and requires a level of physical fitness, which we can discuss in in more detail.

I am a passionate outdoorsman, who loves the bond I share with my dogs. We are a team in the wilderness, working together to travel through alpine trails. I have been travelling by dogsled with my mates for several years. We traverse the Bighorn Mountains in northern Wyoming. I'm fascinated at how different the same locations look in the winter versus the summer -- both are majestic!

Where you'll be

Sheridan is a true west gem. It's a flourishing cowboy town with a thriving downtown culture -- an ideal launching pad to the great outdoor adventure that surrounds. The Bighorn mountains sit high above Sheridan topping out at just over 13,000 feet above sea level. The trails we travel with the dogs sit around 8,500 feet above sea level, following stream beds through open valleys and heavy forested pines.
