Once in the town of La Cañita we will take the boat that will take us to the Samaná peninsula. Once there, the Safary truck awaits us that will take us up the mountain to take the horses and descend to the Limon Waterfall, one of the highest waterfalls in the Caribbean, you can enjoy a bath in its refreshing water, take a picture or simply appreciate its nature.
We return on the horses to take the Safary truck that will take us back to the pier to enjoy a delicious typical Dominican lunch.

We continue our adventure on the catamaran that will take us to Cayó levantado or Bacardi Island, its white sand beaches and turquoise waters will captivate you.

Gosh, where to begin. This low rating was mostly due to how absolutely rude and unprofessional this host was, particularly in communication. They notified, less than 12hr in advance after booking, that we'd have to find our own transportation. Or otherwise pay 120 extra. They were poor to respond, ignored that they TWICE listed that transportation was included in their ad, and clearly made it about the money. We explained uber and taxis weren't running, that we were over 7 mi from the "meeting point", and even trying to RENT A CAR last minute during covid wasn't available. They didn't care. Asked for a refund and they didn't care and refused. They were ALL OVER THE PLACE with start times. They listed 630 in some places, 645 in others, and then 710, 720, and 730 in different emails as well as I tried to seek help from them or some arrangement in compromise on wanting to do this trip but being shocked that it didn't include transportation when ALL other excursions did include it and even the resort property manager warned us against a company that wouldn't provide it. Ultimately they decided they would rather take our money and have us upset with them before the trip even started, than respectfully acknowledge listing it incorrectly and refunding us or providing a means. Had to walk 3mi at 530am to even find an alternative THROUGH THE HELP OF THE PROPERTY MANAGER.The trip itself was rough. Going to start that early (instead of after 7), only for the host to arrive 20min LATE to their own event, and going until 820pm was unexpected. Going whale watching, when the description said there would not be, and thus not having prepared as such and not having sea sickness medication available, was horrible. Transportation was a total of 8 hours. The boat to whale watching was POURING wet both to and from. They didn't provide covers until after speeding in the boat and getting drenched by the poor driving and intense waves. FYI this boat ride is about the most turbulent you will be on. The whales were few but cool, but passengers or so got sick. The food at lunch was alright. The horse riding and waterfall was the best. There was so much traveling though,, that you don't get to bacardi Island until after 5pm and stay for less than 45min. You stayed at the waterfall, after a 45min horse ride, small trek, and 250 steps, for 20min. Expect to get dirty on this trip. But ultimately, don't expect to be communicated well with. Both beforehand as well as with an English speaker during. Further, found out several others got this trip for 60 - 70 dollars LESS. So, to have been that disagreeable about just a pick up that was ON THE WAY was further insult to injury.

Overall this experience could have been better for the money. This is not a small group tour, the price you pay to Andrew and Valentine hooks you into a large commercial tour with many other people who booked with through other sources. First as per the Airbnb ad under COVID rules, it confirms a maximum group size of 10 people. We were crammed with more than 30 people in a mini bus for a three hour trip one-way, as we stopped to pick up more people at various locations. Once we arrived at the port, our original tour guide left and split the group apart into two other guides. It was very unclear which of the two guides we were really supposed to be with, even after asking both guides. We took best guess and went with Pedro as his group was smaller, still unsure if we were with the right group the entire time. Pedro was the star of this experience, very nice and accommodating. We did not tour a cigar factory/ coffee or chocolate farm/ tasting as pictured and described by others. We also did not attempt to find any whales, as was pictured and discussed in message. Upon return at the port, we had to wait over an hour for the other part of the group to return to the bus. No idea where they went or if it was the same tour but they did stop to see whales. The waterfall and island were amazing, and we had no major issues other than confusion. Be sure to bring plenty of cash to tip your horse and tour guides. Bottom line: you're paying for a seat on a mini bus heading to the port, a boat trip across the Samana bay with a stop on the island, a ride to the waterfall with a quick horse ride, a decent buffet lunch, and a few cuba libres. We paid another $20 to be picked up at the hotel, not sure if all others did the same but we made many stops for pick up and drop off.

My favorite experience in two weeks in the Dominican Republic. I wanted to experience the natural beauty of the island and this was it. Andrey and Valentina met me personally to make sure the transportation pickup was smooth as that can be an issue on some tours. The cigar factory was nice, the horseback ride was very pleasant, and the waterfall was amazing. Then we went to the island for lunch and beach time. I would definitely do this experience again, highly recommended.
