Historic Public Market & Catacombs Tour
Experience hosted by Stevi

What you'll do
My guests will explore the history and current model of the Indianapolis City Market starting with the historic Market House. We’ll explore the significant building and its offerings before descending into the underground, labrynthian (and many say haunted) Catacombs, only open to the public a few times each year.
- Identity verified
I’m the executive director of the historic Indianapolis City Market in downtown Indianapolis. The City Market is rich with historical relevance and anecdotes, including the mysterious Catacombs beneath City Market. I’ve spent nearly 20 years of my professional career at City Market and have thoroughly researched all aspects of this culturally, architecturally and historically significant campus.
Where you'll be
The Indianapolis City Market was on the original Plat of the City dating back to 1821. The Catacombs beneath City Market are shrouded in mystery, but we’ll tour the subterranean space and discuss its storied history. If guests are visiting on a Wednesday from May through October, 9-1pm, we’ll be able to visit the weekly farmers market at City Market.
Things to know
You’ll need to take a picture of yourself that matches the photo on your ID. This is so Airbnb can confirm who’s actually going on the experience. You’ll only have to do this once.
Up to 8 guests ages 18 and up can attend.
All tour-goers will be required to sign a waiver before entering the historic Catacombs, which contain an uneven dirt floor. The Catacombs are not wheelchair accessible. Those with severe asthma should refrain from booking this tour as the Catacombs have a dusty, dirt floor.
