As a class we prepare 4 courses, taking advantage of passive and active cooking time so that the full meal will be ready at once. At First Class Cooking, we want to make everyone a better home chef. Our culinary approach teaches • Proper Culinary Technique • explains Kitchen Science in relatable & memorable terms • discusses principles of Flavor Composition so that one can successfully cook, without a recipe. Recipes are developed to deliver sophisticated flavors in elevated preparations yet still be approachable, to all levels of chefs. I begin by demonstrating techniques and then pass the knives and tools off to the students to experience themselves.

I started First Class Cooking with a mission to make everyone a better home chef. I started cooking in grade school and my curiosity and adoration for produce led me to work on farms, in kitchens and in catering operation across the US, Europe and Australia. My approach distills proper culinary technique, explains kitchen science in relatable, memorable terms, and discusses principles of flavor composition so that one can successfully cook, without a recipe. The class atmosphere is fun, encouraging and social and the recipes are flexible to dietary concerns as well as ingredient you'll find back home

Classes are held out of a spacious and remodeled live/work loft in San Francisco. The kitchen has been expanded to accommodate many people working with it, while the scale of equipment remains familiar to a residential kitchen. While we will mostly be working on our feet, there is seating adjacent to the kitchen if you seek a break. The culinary studio is ADA compliant.
