What you'll do

Make Joburg your very own open-air museum. We will start in the vibrant neighbourhood of Maboneng meaning “Place of Light” a fully integrated urban neighbourhood on the east side of Johannesburg CBD. Both a mixed-use development and urban community, Maboneng is home to several independent retail, restaurants and entertainment venues as well as loft apartments, offices, film and sound studios, a hotel, a hostel, a museum and creative factory spaces.
As such, the Maboneng Precinct offers a range of well-designed and affordable spaces within an urban landscape in Johannesburg. With all its offerings, Maboneng has proved to be a popular destination for locals and international visitors.

We’ll paddle through areas like Jeppestown, Maboneng, Doornfontein, Victoria Yards and Troyeville, for a day of public arts, urban living, fascinating history, amazing architecture, and plenty of fresh air.
Other things to note
Kindly be at the starting point 30 minutes before tour departure.

I am Bheki Dube, I grew up in the inner-city neighbourhood of Troyeville, in an art decor 1930s building among artists, poets and filmmakers, bohemians and rebels - They shaped how I relate to the city and to humanity as a whole.

I am qualified social documentary photographer and award winning entrepreneur, through my tourism ventures I facilitate experiential, entrepreneurship learning immersions and study abroad programs.

From a young age, I had a vision to reshape the way people travel in Africa. Starting out in Johannesburg, I wanted travellers to be able to experience the city on foot and hear stories from the entrepreneurs and creatives who live here so they can get a true sense of our identity.
