What you'll do

We will travel to the nearest market to find out about the native products, fruits and vegetables, that make Mexican Cuisine one of the best in the world. We will cook several dishes, from tortillas and salsa, to 'polvorones' (Mexican cookies) and churros, chilaquiles, soups, stuffed chilies and much more. We will also prepare traditional drinks in our own, very Mexican kitchen. After a morning of learning and having fun, we will sample the dishes and drinks we prepared, seated at a special outdoor dinner table set up in a Mexican way. Your host will then tell you anecdotes related to some traditional dishes, and where some of their ingredients originated. Recipes for the prepared dishes will be facilitated. Come join us in this unique experience and feel what it is like to taste homemade Mexican dishes prepared with original ingredients, and enjoy the hospitality of the Mexican people. Recipes will be adapted to products available in your area, so you can prepare the dishes in your own kitchen. After the experience you are welcome to stay at Casa Luz for a swim and relaxation, or if you prefer we can take you back to where we first met.

Susana

Born and raised in Mexico, I learned very early the importance of food in my culture. I have a deep passion for everything that is Mexican, including its cuisine. I love cooking meals for others, and this, combined with my chef certificate from Algonquin College in Ottawa, Canada, as well as my experience as a teacher, has driven me to offer cooking classes at Casa Luz. I am also a qualified teacher, photographer, interpreter, translator, and published author. I hope to welcome you soon at Casa Luz in Cuernavaca, and teach you not only to prepare amazing dishes but also about Mexico's culture.
