Southern part of India is famous for its assortment of exquisite flavors, textures and highly nutritious food such as idlis, masala dosa, utappams, rasam, sambar and vada etc. These popular South Indian dishes are sure to delight your taste buds and you'll be treated to a 3 hour exhilarating experience in south Indian cooking, in which you'll learn about the spices, ingredients and our family secret cooking techniques. You will learn hands on cooking of steaming Idlis, make Dosas and learn how to make the basic mixture of spices required for the recipes. India is famous for its chutneys. It is a wonderful accompaniment that can transform any dish and is usually prepared fresh in an Indian kitchen. Dosas are incomplete without the lip smacking quintessential Coconut Chutney and famous Red Onion Chutney. It is all about hitting that right flavor using a handful of fresh ingredients. Learn more about Suryakala

Suryakala

I am passionate about South Indian cooking, which I learnt from my mother and grand mother. Since I can remember, my parents have been cooking together. They're both so attached to the cooking they grew up with and as a result I got hooked on to South Indian cooking. South Indian cooking is based on rice, lentils, stews & a variety of spices - Dishes such as dosa , idli , rasam ,Upma and sambar. Sambar powder is often used to spice dishes. Tamarind is used in stews. Fresh curry leaves flavor some of the soups. You’d finish off the meal with a special type of Filter Coffee made with chicory .
