What you'll do
We will meet in the neighborhood of Abasto. I will take you to know every corner that has a story or anecdote related to tango. The neighborhood of Abasto is a place that helps us to know the passing of the 20th century, and how tango developed in Buenos Aires. We will see the passage of tango sculptures, where I will talk about each character and its relationship with the Abasto. We will pass by the House of Carlos Gardel, the most important singer of our history; and we will see the passage of houses painted with the traditional "filleted" porteño. Then, we will see how the modern tango coexists with the historical within the neighborhood; and finally its relationship with the national Rock. You can know the whole story, from the hand of a historian specialized in tango.
Hello! I'm Catalina. I am a neighbor of the Abasto neighborhood, I was born and lived my whole life here. I know every corner of the neighborhood, even more hidden. Also, I'm a historian; and I have been giving talks and conferences (at an international level) about our culture and identity for several years. Few people know that tango was born in this neighborhood. But all the tango roads lead us to the Abasto. The great people lived here, and the coexistence between the market and the neighborhood generated our identity. I would like to tell you and show you each of these corners.
