What you'll do

We will meet at Hotel Villa Amarilla, where we will discuss the conditions- tide, wind, waves, etc. There you will change into a rash guard, put on sunblock, and store your belongings. Then we'll head to the beach, which is just a few steps away, and start the lesson on land. We will go over how to stand on the board, where to put your weight, safety tips, and what we will be doing in the water. A little practice popping up in the sand and then we'll head to the water to start putting everything you just learned to the test! There I will accompany you in the waves and we'll start surfing!
Other things to note
Bring your bathing suit, a towel, sunscreen (zinc), water and snacks as needed and a camera!

My name is Eymhus, I'm a local Costa Rican and have been surfing for over 15 years. I started teaching lessons about 10 years ago, when my hobby turned into my full-time job! I love teaching my passion and want you to experience Costa Rica's amazing waves with me :) Pura Vida

I am new to surfing, I had one previous surfing lesson with another instructor... No question I learned so much more with Eymhus. His technique for popping up and balance was much easier, I rode more waves and longer rides than ever before. Thanks Eymhus!

One can't go to Costa Rica and not at least try surfing! We had so much fun and our instructor was the best in teaching us how to not only get up on the board but began to teach us how to read the wave and catch one on our own.

My 2 boys 17 and 18 participated in this activity, they leaned enough in the session to go on to surfing on their own over the next couple of days

Both my wife and I had a great surf lesson. Had a lot of fun and will definitely go again if I’m back in Costa Rica.

Best surfing lesson I’ve ever had, hands down! Had a blast, and learned a ton. Ask for Joshua, he’s an amazing coach. He taught me how to read the direction & timing of the waves, and helped me improve my form with detailed feedback so that I could actively work on getting better with each wave I caught. (Prior to taking a lesson with Joshua, I tried a few other surf schools in Tamarindo, and a lot of them seem to be geared towards those who just want to try a fun family activity for 2 hours, so the instructors don’t get too far past the very basics.) If you genuinely want to learn to surf for the first time, or if you’ve surfed before and you want to work on improving your skills, I would absolutely recommend this experience!
