Street photography with a pro

Vancouver, Canada

Experience hosted by Tommaso

What you'll do

Take your camera and become a photojournalist for a day. Downtown Vancouver offers a plethora of opportunities to capture great subjects, and to tell amazing stories through your camera.

Several techniques are required to be successful in street photography, and you'll learn to master the basics.
I'll get you out of using automatic settings — you won't use them anymore after this class.
I'll teach you about framing, and taking fast shots. You'll learn how to use shutter speed to make an everyday scene unexpected and original.

A picture says a thousand words, and street photography is about being able to open your eyes, seeing the stories taking shape in front of you, and telling them with your camera.
I will be shooting with my camera right beside you, to make sure you get a great end result.
I'll also portray you while you follow your inspiration, so you can have a memory of a special day.

During this three-hours experience, I'll share the tricks I have learned in years of practice, and I will take you to the most representative spots of our beautiful Vancouver.

At the end of the experience, to make sure you don't forget what you have learned, I'll send you a digital copy of my book "Tell a story with Street Photography".

Other things to note:
Bring your own camera and some water.
It might be chilly out there, so dress accordingly.

I spent half of my life shooting with a 35 mm film camera, and the other half with a DSLR.

I explored and photographed a good part of the world, whether on assignment or following my own inspiration.
In the snow on the Himalayas, in a tent in the Sahara desert, on a road in Siberia, or in temple in Burma, my camera allowed me to make the unexpected a forever moment.

I teach photography because a camera can make you see things you would never see otherwise.

You can find shots of mine purchased by Google and, if you like reading, in the following publications:
"Oltre la Strada," 2015, Albeggi Editore (ITA);
"The Italian Vegan Chef Cookbook," 2016, Amazon (USA);
and the travel column by "Funny Vegan Magazine," 2014 – 2018 (ITA).
"Tell a story with Street Photography", 2020, Amazon (USA)

Where you'll be

We will be shooting downtown, where life happens. Busy skyscrapers, snakes of traffic, and streets teeming with people are the perfect elements of the urban jungle where you'll capture the unexpected.

This was a great experience! Tomasso is very professional and has a lot of knowledge to share, no matter the level you are. Not only he knows about great spots in the city to practice specific topics of photography, but he is also always open to answer questions, let you experiment and provide guidance. I learned a lot about photography in this session.

I had fantastic experience with Tommaso. He is a true master of street photography. The entire photo walk was very practical, full of great tips, advice and even “challenges” to complete. Highly recommend to anyone from beginners to advanced photographers.
