What you'll do

9 March 2021, new baby goat born here!

Welcome the guests of all ages.

Introduce people to the goats through the see-through fence. Let the goats smell the humans. Let the humans smell the goats. Right now I have two does and a buck.

I supply treats for the people to offer the goats, so the goats can eat out of the guests’ hand. These goats are VERY tame and social. I’ll let the folks know that one can not assume that every goat one meets in the world will be as well socialized.

I can demonstrate milking, for those who are interested.

I can let the interested guests try their skills at getting milk out of a goat.

Those guests who want to go into the pen are invited to join the goats there. When seated, guests may hold a young goat in their lap.

Chickens are also present in the pen. Chickens are more aloof, and less interested in being petted.

All the while I am eager to speak on topics of interest to the guests.

I can talk about: goat health, goat housing, goat feeding, motivating your municipality to change the regulations to welcome goats, choosing the right goats for your goals, goat fencing, milking goats, pasteurizing milk, cheese making and goat purchasing.
Other things to note
Get ready to get dirty. Leave your handbag in your car. We are out of doors, so I am comfortable open-faced. If you prefer me to wear a mask, I am happy to cover m

I love goats. Yesterday I disbudded 10 day old baby goats. Nigerian Dwarf goats have been central to my life since 2004. I helped alter the San Diego Urban Agriculture ordinances in 2012 by doiing demonstrations on the pasteurization of home-harvested milk, advising the City Council on the proper housing of goats, and answering concerns of City Employees and neighbors about goat pests, goat noises, goat health, and goat compatibility with residential neighborhoods. My goal hosting the Kids Meet the Goats experience is to inform the attendees on the way to raise goats in the City of San Diego, and cities in general. I want to help future goat-owners with information they need to succeed with their own goats. I am passionate about taking the best possible care of my own goats and helping other folks too.

Meet the goats! Bring your kids!

My daughter asked for an animal visit for her 6th birthday. This was a perfect little excursion. Laura was very welcoming. My kids loved the rambunctious baby goat hopping on their laps. The chickens didn’t mind being picked up or their eggs being handled and counted. Then counted again. :) very sweet little outing in the city. Thanks Laura!

Meeting Laura with her pets: Ginger, Neon, the baby goat and the chickens was great! They were all friendly and enjoyed all the attention. Highly recommend this experience for something out of the ordinary but still extraordinary.

Laura is very sweet goat owner. She was very flexible with us and told my kids a ton about goats. The little baby goat slept in my teen’s lap the whole hour. Very personalized experience compared to the zoo.

The goat experience was relaxed and informative. The hands on experience was great. The host was kind and knowledgeable. She answered all the questions my young granddaughters asked. And even when then group of children got a bit over excited and began chasing the chickens. She quietly explained to them that the chickens had emotions too. And that one of those emotions was fear. The children listened and complied quickly. The baby Sunny Boy (goat -three weeks old) was the main attraction. The girls held him and were offered the chance to feed him. Great experience for younger ones. One hour was just enough time. Thanks Laura
