Since I was a child I am passionate about cinema and when, as a teenager, I discovered the first films of Pedro Almodóvar, I fell exhausted before his talent. Then, as a journalist specializing in film (I write in El País Semanal, Fotogramas and the Cineuropa website) I have had the good fortune of interviewing him and getting to know him and some of his actresses. I also visited the filming of "Kika" and I always look forward to his new movie, where I find characters and exciting situations.

Where you'll be

We will make a tour of corners of Madrid that appear in the films of the great Almodóvar, such as La Plaza Mayor ("The flower of my secret"), the viaduct of Segovia street (it appears in "Matador" and "I´m so excited") and the Villa Rosa restaurant (scene where Miguel Bosé performed, in a transvestite plan, in "Tacones lejanos").
But there will be many more places that we will visit, surprising places that you will recognize if you are a fan of Almodóvar.

Alfonso‘s tour was the highlight of our trip to Madrid. His passion for, and extensive knowledge of Almodóvar (and Madrid), gave us a special and unique insight into Pedro and his city. Along the way he also gave great insights into non Almodóvar sights and history of Madrid. We have seen many, but not all of Almodóvar’s films, and Alfonso was understanding of this, and shared his knowledge so generously. We are inspired to watch the whole of his catalogue. Alfonso also gave us great recommendations of other Spanish film directors. This is a must do for any fan of Almodóvar. Bueno!

Great experience that not only gave us a tour of areas we wouldn't necessarily find as tourists to Madrid, but was a fun and interesting way to revisit the epic cineography of Almodovar. Alfonso also added additional texture by explaining how the different movies were culturally important and what was happening in Spain at the time. Highly recommend for fans!

A great tour for cinephiles and those who are generally interested in learning more about what Spanish society has been through over the last 30 or so years. If you are not familiar or watched all of Almodovar films (I have found out that he actually made over 20 of them which I didn’t know) you will enjoy this tour as you will see the beautiful and non touristy parts of Madrid with the welcoming and knowledgeable guide and a great group of people - both tourists and locals who will tell you about your experiences living in Madrid and how the city has changed.

A special experience that could only happen in Madrid. I love Almodóvar but found out during the tour that hadn’t watched as many of his films as I’d thought 🙈. This wasn’t a problem though as Alfonso played the clips from the scene for each location we visited - I was amazed at how little most had changed! As I’m learning Spanish I opted to do the tour in Spanish for practice but I’m sure it would have been just as good in English. It was great to be able to talk to a Madrileño who was passionate about film. Highly recommended if you’re even a bit into Almodóvar.
