What you'll do

Before we start cooking, how about going to a super market together? There may be vegetable that you have never seen or cooked. Whenever I go on a trip abroad, I like to stop by a local supermarket, as it looks like a treasure box for me! Sweets are also interesting! After that we will cook my favorite washoku together at my house. The dishes are from traditional Japanese vegetable food to casual izakaya food :) During cooking, I will talk about miso. Do you know there are many different types of regional miso in Japan? Each region has each unique miso. We will do miso tasting, and you will choose one miso for today’s miso soup. Then, we will cook our own miso soup using the miso you chose. Sounds good? After cooking, we are eating and chatting in a *KOTATSU. Do you know that? It is a Japanese style warm table (table with a heater inside). Please be relaxed there:) *During from winter to spring After finishing the class, if you want, I can take you to a lovely old district called Yanesen near by (for free), where you can see the fully bloomed beautiful cherry blossoms and azaleas in spring. Also, there are a popular shopping street, and amazing old houses.

Yuki

I am a miso sommelier in Tokyo. I love cooking and also my major is chemistry. Cooking is like doing experiments! In 2013-2015, I lived in Boston in the U.S. with my husband. I often invited my local friends and taught how to cook Washoku (Japanese food). I was so happy to share how wonderful Washoku is. Since then, I have wanted to do a cooking class at my house in Tokyo too, and finally have started it! I have strong passion for miso, as my grandfather and dad used to run a miso company. So I was a child who really loved the smell of fermentation:) I'm also familiar with Yanesen area.
