What you'll do

Begin your walking exploration of Rotterdam's highlights when you meet your guide under the clock at the modern Central Station at 10 AM. Then head to the city center, passing post-war reconstruction monuments such as the shopping area, Lijnbaan. Stop for a photo of the Timmerhuis building, rising like a cloud of glass and steel above the city. Hear about Rotterdam's history from your guide, an expert on architecture and art history. Explore landmarks such as the pre-World War II Laurens church, Rotterdam's Cube Houses, and the modern Markthal building, famous for its ceiling artwork. Relax over a snack at the indoor market before continuing your walk. Stroll along the river Maas, taking in the impressive views, and see the new developments on the south bank before concluding around 12:00 PM on the riverside with an Amazing skyline view.
Other things to note

I enjoyed my tour with Tania. She was able to give alot of historical facts about what lead to building up Rotterdam and what the buildings are/were used for. Very interesting stuff.

Very nice and welcoming host. The who's showed a real passion for architecture and told very interesting stories about the city of Rotterdam's history. Not only that, but showed the potential of the architectural changes expected in the city. Showed vey nice locations and left me wanting to explore more.

The architecture walk through Rotterdam with Silvia was outstanding and most enjoyable! Silvia gave us a great view over the old and new buildings in Rotterdam and a great knowledge about the history, too. We can totally recommend this guided tour!! Thank you, Silvia!

The tour was really interesting, partly because there are many fascinating things about the reconstruction of Rotterdam and partly because our guide explained things very well and clearly. Highly recommended. Just be sure to look both ways before crossing any of the bike routes!

We booked this walking tour for 4 adults, my wife and I and another couple and their your daughter. Silvia was our guide and she was very good with time management. She has been a Rotterdammer for a long time and her passion for the city and it's architecture shows. Rotterdam is like a managerie of different building styles and periods, so it really helps when an architect like Silvia can explain in simple terms what the reasoning was behind a particular building is. She was also gracious in answering all our questions All in all it was a very informative and entertaining 2 hours. We will definitely come back to Rotterdam do another walking tour with Silvia and team.
