What you'll do

Do you want an all round, INTERACTIVE city tour which is full of local history, nature and cuisine? Then this tour is for you!

We will meet at the National Library of Scotland where we will make our way down the street which inspired the creation of Diagon Alley. This street will lead us directly to the heart of the old town where we will see the grave of Greyfriars Bobby, the same graveyard which inspired J K Rowling's three leading characters in the ever-popular Harry Potter series. While learning more about Rowling's life and work, we will make the 20-30 minute, steep climb up the extinct volcano, and, weather permitting, we can sit and absorb the amazing sunset over the city.

Slowly descending Arthurs seat, we will head to the infamous Royal Mile where we will find the Holyrood Palace grounds, the 'birthplace' of Scrooge and our last stop, the place where we share with you the peculiar local delicacies deep fried mars bar and haggis (recommended but not included).

Along the way there will also be fun facts, the chance to ask questions and even some Edinburgh Trivia. So, if the Ministry of Magical Tours is for you then please feel free to drop us a message. Just remember we can always customise the trip to suit you! *note do let us know if you have a toddler so we can ensure the route is suitable*

It would be a pleasure to see you soon,

The tour was absolutely brilliant! Robert was a fantastic guide- very knowledgeable and friendly and the tour was interesting and informative and really varied. Going up Arthur’s seat was great- the views from the top are amazing. I would definitely say to book this tour- the value for money is also amazing and you won’t regret it!

This was a phenomenal tour, and we couldn't have asked for a better guide than Robert! He was incredibly friendly, and we learned SO much. We were able to go at a pace that suited us, and being able to take in the sights of Edinburgh while hearing historical tales, Harry Potter trivia, and then getting a GORGEOUS su set hike up Arthur's Seat was just wonderful. Can't recommend this tour enough, worth FAR more than the ticket price. Great craic!

It was such a delight joining Rob’s tour. It was such a personal experience that we felt like as if a friend was showing us around the city instead of a tourist guide. Rob was very friendly and fun. He showed us parts of the city that only locale would know. He did not rush at all and made sure we enjoyed. He was very attentive during the trek making sure we were safe and we took breaks as he noticed we got tired at some point. I would highly recommend Rob! And make sure to climb Arthur’s seat when you visit Edinburgh

If you like Harry Potter- do this! If you love a wander around a beautiful city, a good story with a local lad - do this! Rob is a gem! He’s engaging, funny, friendly and an all round awesome guy! We had a great time with lots of stories, fun facts and cool things to see. We were lucky with the weather and made it to the top of Arthur’s Seat for an epic view of the city while the sun was setting. The leg workout to get up there is worth it! Defo wear suitable footwear and bring a bottle of water. I’ve got a dodgy knee and Rob did check on me periodically to make sure I was doing ok- we did take a few breaks to catch my breath. We chomped on a deep fried mars bar afterwards which was a delicious re-energiser. Rob did also help us with a recommendation for an after tour dinner location which was amazing too.

Absolutely recommend this tour with Rob. Kind, friendly and very knowledgeable and made the tour great fun to explore, including learning about elements of Edinburgh city and the history including the dark side of characters in the cemetery, alongside the lighter bittersweet tale of Greyfriars Bobby. With a safe and happy trek to the top of Arthur’s seat - even for my dog who loved it too! Really enjoyable tour and so glad we booked it!
