What you'll do
We now only go in groups of max of 4 people (max 8 if from the same social bubble).
We visit four of Chueca's best neighborhood bars to taste a variety of tapas & soak up its fascinating atmosphere.
Each bar is unique so get ready to see a variety from the oldest in the district (103 years) to my secret modern bar that is so hidden that I know you have never been there before!
Arrive hungry, we will have at least 8 Tapas, including many classics like: Spanish Omelet, Croquettes, Patatas Bravas, cheese, vegetarian options, & also some surprises that I promise that you never tried before. We are also going to do some drink and Tapa pairings.
Whilst bar hopping, we'll tell you tales from Chueca's history, the origins of its LGBTQ past and present and let you into some of its hidden secrets! We even visit the first gay bar in Madrid.
Do this early on your trip to Madrid becuase I will share many tips on how to work a Tapas bar to get better value for money, some do's and don't's, and how to identify good Tapas bars, how to order, and finally the best bit..... how to eat.
You'll enjoy the the art of tapas and get the chance to demonstrate your Asturian cider poring skills.
Cancel dinner, you will eat enough on this experience for the whole evening.
Other things to note
This experience is open to everybody. Many non-LGBTQ people come & everyone is made

Originally from Manchester, now a Madrid resident since 1999, I’m an experienced tour guide and a real foodie. I’ve walked the whole Camino De Santiago (with my certificate to prove it!) tasting and experiencing a range of Spanish regional cuisine and drinks as well as traveling widely throughout Spain.
As a former landlord of a gay bar, restaurant and nightclub. I’m in a unique position to host this experience, combining my career in hospitality with my expertise in Spanish food and drinks.
I’ve lead tours through Chueca and work with the local LGBTQ groups to keep Madrid’s LGBTQ history alive.

Where you'll be
CHUECA LGBTQ DISTRICT
We'll begin at a very old 103 year old bar.
We'll then cross Plaza Chueca to do a wine tasting at the locals' favorite hideout. Then it's time to head off the beaten tourist trail to my secret hidden bar, (enough said!)
We'll end at a very traditional Spanish bar for a wide selection of tapas.
Between bars we´ll stroll through Fuencarral St., Augusto Figuroa and the hidden spots of this incredible neighborhood.

Our tour guide was Ian and we had an amazing time. We were their first guests post COVID-19 and unfortunately many of the shops, bars and restaurants were still closed. However, Ian was super accommodating and quickly pivoted to other locations that were open. He’s insight and knowledge about the Urban history of the community was very interesting. Ian’s personality and humor made the trip even more fun. We highly recommend this tour for future travelers coming to Madrid!

We had a really nice tour with Paul. He took us to places that we wouldn’t have found ourselves and shared with us some of the do’s and dont’s that we applied after the tour when we went back to explore more tapas places. His recommendations were excellent and there was definitely enough food and drinks! Paul is friendly, knowledgeable and engaging. We definitely recommend this to others who want a different experience in Madrid.
