What you'll do

We will spend an hour and a half sailing on Lake Washington surrounded by stunning mountain views. You will be on a large keel boat, either a J-24 or a Laser SB3, with a professional skipper! Expect a safe and relatively dry sailing experience. You will be welcomed to take part in sailing the boat or just sit back and enjoy the ride. Our summer evenings offer beautiful north winds, around 8-15 mph; the air is warm and so is the lake. It may prove to be too tempting to go for a swim so bring a towel. The moon rises over the Cascade Mountains as Mt Rainier glows purple and pink with the setting sun. Feel free to bring along snacks and drinks to be enjoyed at the discretion of the captain. If the food or drinks are too messy or challenging to consume then you will be asked to hold off until after the voyage. Alcohol may not be consumed in Magnuson Park, however contained alcoholic beverages are may be enjoyed on the boat with the permission of the captain. We will not take you out if you appear intoxicated, please refrain from drinking before going on the boat, there is a wonderful brewery next door that folks tend to stop by after! Please no smoking or vaping on the boat!

I have been sailing in some capacity my entire life, and professionally I have worked on everything from dinghies to tall ships. I grew up on the East Coast sailing catboats on Buzzards Bay in the summer, and ran away to sea after college aboard a historic schooner. I worked my way to the West and fell in love with the waters around Washington, and have happily made them my home. All of my sailing jobs have involved education in some capacity, from sail training to marine biology. I love talking about our local wildlife, and will even throw in a sea story or two from my travels. See you on the water!
