What you'll do
This is a Literary experience that will bring you discover magical angles of the "city on the water", on the trace of famous writers. Famous writers arrived in Venice in many different ways: by water, by plane, by train. Often, they immediately collected their impressions about the city on their books. We will imagine their paths, reading some extracts and walking by those parts of the city that first welcomed and impressed them. We will go to Fondamenta degli incurabili, favorite spot for Iosif Brodskij, then to Lido, best place according to Thomas Mann, and the Calle del Vento for Diego Valeri. We will visit these precise spots reading what these authors wrote about. We will follow the voices of these great writers, looking at Venice from a different perspective. Obviously, the perfect end of a day in Venice is the aperitivo time. I propose to eat some cicchetti (little snacks) and drink an ombra (a glass of wine) together, like many poets probably did here in the past (and, why not, in the present!)
Every time I visit a new place, I always like to know more and more about its literary history: what books were written in those cities? Which writers wandered through its streets? How were they inspired by the city? That’s exactly what I was asking myself when I arrived in Venice, seven months ago. I tried to give an answer to these questions by reading books and poems about the «magical city on the water» and now it would be wonderful for me to share this knowledge with other people interested about the subject!
