What you'll do

Shinrin-Yoku - forest bathing

Forest bathing is about consciously perceiving the atmosphere of the forest and everything that goes with it.

Staying in the forest has a positive effect on blood pressure, cortisol levels, heart rate variability, mood and generally on the immune system.

A 2-hour walk in the forest gives you time for cozy conversations or to be silent and take a deep breath.

The program starts with a walk through the forest, where the participants can enjoy nature with all its colors and shapes. The Bienwald is home to various bird and beetle species that are worth discovering. At the beginning the hike leads past bodies of water where different species of birds can be observed. Here the forest is still relatively light and sunny. After a short break with coffee and tea to strengthen yourself, the group makes its way a little deeper into the forest, where with a dense canopy of leaves over your heads and a soft moss bed under your feet, the forest can be enjoyed in all its abundance. Then the group returns to the parking lot. It is a circular route, so there is no boredom.

My name is Ingmar Vater, I work professionally in the nursing field in a psychiatric clinic and therefore have to do with the topic of mental health more and more. I have loved the forest since childhood and offer these discoveries in order to earn something on Sundays, which I often spend in the forest anyway. It is important to me that the participants get to know the pleasant effects of the forest on their own health and maybe also integrate them into their own everyday lives. Therefore I try to motivate the participants to take a closer look in order to get to know the forest in all its abundance.

The Bienwald is a wooded area of approx. 120 square kilometers and extends east of the German Wine Route into the Rhine plain. The Lauter, which represents the border with France, forms the south-western boundary of the Bienwald. Numerous other streams, rivulets and ditches run through the Bienwald mostly in a west-east direction.
