What you'll do

We will walk around Aldgate on the Eastern side of the City of London, to the border of Whitechapel and the Aldgate Pump and back again. We will stop at the many apparently anonymous sites where big and small things have happened throughout 2000 years of history, from the invisible underground station to the micro forests on a wall, the patron Saint of travel, the first department store, a cunning boxer, delusional urban planning, and a proper Russian mystery.

Includes many tragedies of travel, killing corpses, falling bombs, the inevitable Mr Ripper and some ancient typos.

Where you'll be

We will rediscover the grass-covered remains of old Aldgate East Station, then proceed counterclockwise around Jack the Ripper's places like St Botolph's Church stopping to experience the local invisible history. Through the disappeared Auld Gate, the first modern department store, a moment of x-ray vision, the tasty Aldgate pump, back to a mysterious wall mask

It was an interesting walk and I learnt lots of things about Aldgate neighbourhood. Maurizio is very knowledgeable and well prepared with old pictures and maps to give you an idea of the past. Short notice booking and single person tour worked out well and justify the price. Thanks Maurizio.

Truly interesting historical walk. Saw historical structures that would otherwise be over looked of you went on your own.
