What you'll do

From BarroAzul we offer a workshop in which we will tell you where the Seville pottery tradition comes from, what are the ceramic techniques practiced over centuries and whose fame has transcended our borders.

So, how do we do it?

Firstly, we will tell you a little about the history of Sevillian ceramics. Next, you will be given a practical demonstration of Triana's main ceramic decoration techniques. You will be shown several of the oldest techniques for making 'Cuerda Seca', 'Arista' and 'Painted tile' tiles and you will have the opportunity to paint with yourself. Then, you will decorate your own tiles with two different techniques to take home with you.

You can take your tiles with you, but YOU WILL HAVE TO WAIT AT LEAST 24 HOURS .
Our level of English is basic, please be patient with us.
Other things to note
When preparing your visit keep in mind that WE NEED AT LEAST 24 HOURS TO HAVE THE TILES READY and you can take them with you. But if you can´t, don´t worry, we'll ship them and you can pay after.

BarroAzul was born thanks to Paula Felizón (anthropologist and ceramist) and Antonio Librero (art historian and cultural manager), who have been working in the world of artistic ceramics from the perspective of their different disciplines for years, and who after collaborating as documentalists for Centro Ceramica Triana, they decided to apply their knowledge and share it to all the visitors to Triana. We also have the collaboration of Honor Edgcombe, a nice British girl who brings her experience as a ceramist in several workshops of artistic creation.

This was brilliant! We visited with our 3 children 8, 12 and 15 and we all really enjoyed the morning we spent with Paula. All our hosts friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable, plus you will each get two tiles to take home. Everyone was glad we had this experience.

Such a fun and unique experience learning about the history of ceramics in Sevilla and the different techniques used to make them. It was really cool making our own tiles to take home!

Ana was our host and she is very intelligent and friendly!! We came to BarroAzul on our second day of the trip with little knowledge of the surrounding area and she fascinated us with the history of ceramics in Triana. Plus we get to create our very own souvenirs?? cant be beat

Great way to spend a few hours learning about ceramics in Seville and Triana and getting to make a meaningful souvenir to take home. Honor was a great host - even when we asked too many questions!

We had a lovely morning at the ceramics studio. Very informative about the history of ceramics in Seville and the painting techniques. We had lots of time to paint our tiles and tips to improve our technique throughout. Easy to pick up afterwards from the drop box once the tiles were fired. Must do experience in Triana!

Une super expérience, qui permet de fabriquer sa propre céramique, avec pleins de bons conseils. On ressort bien plus humble quand voit la difficulté de faire un carreau! Merci pour la gentillesse et la disponibilité!
