What you'll do

This class will take you on a virtual gastronomic and cultural journey of Indian food. Together we will share Indian food trivia and stories, and the best part of it all - with just 15 minutes of prep at your end, we will prepare a delectable Indian curry meal together.

How a typical class would look:

1. We will start things off with introductions and a few ice-breakers on Indian culture.

2. Next, we’ll then take a look inside my Masala Dabba - a must have spice box in every, and I mean every, Indian kitchen.

4. Let’s 'curry on' from there and get the classic 5-step Indian curry with potatoes and peas started on the stove top (chicken option available).

5. As the curry fills your kitchen with delicious aromas, we will learn how to make steamed stove-top cooked Yellow Turmeric Basmati Rice.

6. Questions and substitute ideas will be given along the way. The menu is vegetarian and gluten-free.

7. We’ll have a ‘how to eat this meal?’ presentation, along with other accompaniment ideas to wrap things up.

I’ll leave you with an easy meal from a cuisine that’s as old as the earliest civilizations; homemade Indian meal habits can be healthful, delicious and rather addictive.

I’m Chef Peri, a native of cosmopolitan Mumbai in western India, currently in the SF Bay Area. A culturally diverse city, Mumbai is a bustling foodie paradise with international and local cuisine choices, and a well-earned reputation for a variety of street foods.

I can’t say enough about how great this class was. Peri was warm, personable, knowledgeable and I just enjoyed hanging out with her! Oh, and the food we prepared was a HUGE hit with my family.
