The mission of the Tahoe Rim Trail Association is to maintain and enhance the Tahoe Rim Trail system and practice and inspire stewardship of the Lake Tahoe region. The 171 mile trail is open to hiking, equestrians, and mountain biking (in most areas). It circumnavigates the Lake Tahoe Basin, 4 National Forests, 3 wilderness areas, 2 states and 1 state park.

What we’ll do

You'll be joining me on the first day/section of the TRT. Starting from the 64 Acres Parking Lot in Tahoe City, you'll embark on a day-hike towards Watson Lake (13.8 miles away). TRAIL CLASS. ***ATTENTION*** For outdoor spirits that aren't afraid of getting dirty. This is a Class 1–2 level hike.. Food, water, shelter, clothes, and sleeping system/shelter is your requirement. Your safety is YOUR responsibility.

Where you'll be

We’ll go up the Tahoe Rim Trail to Thunder Cliff, a superb ridge and cliff line that dances above the Truckee River. The half-day hiker group will summit out at 7,668 feet before returning down the trail. The rest of the full-day hikers will continue with me towards Deer Creek road and Forest Road 73 above Burton Creek State Park. The return down to Tahoe City is beautiful and serene in the afternoon through Burton Creek State Park.
