What you'll do

We will arrange a magical forest experience for guests taking 2 hours, allowing them private guided access to ancient woodland on the southern shore of Loch Tay, Highland Perthshire. We live on a farm where we run our airbnb flat and events business WildFox Events, launching a campaign WildTime Offline. There is plenty of parking and separate toilet facilities. They will be welcomed with a brief introduction to set the scene in the spirit of fun, story telling and adventure. We will adapt the walking route to accommodate all abilities. Host David Fox-Pitt MBE is a motivational mentor with a wonderful child-like enthusiasm which never fails to put visitors at their ease. Our family have lived here for over twenty years and David and I will give them a fascinating overview of the history and wildlife of this area bringing their imaginations alive as we walk in contemplative silence through the wood with a chance to do some meditation and breathing exercises as a group or in solitude. We will explore a ruined village, observe beaver activity on the loch side and be amazed by a cave used in the filming of "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" complete with fierce rabbit. Guests will be offered a hot drink on departure and will have had a rejuvenating life affirming reconnection with nature. We are passionate about the gift of sharing the space and tranquility of this area.

Meet your host, Joanna

For over twenty years we have been organising adventure challenges big and small in this part of the Perthshire Highlands through our business WildFox Events Ltd. The summer of 2020 has made us very aware of the increased demand for visitors to get outside for soft adventure activity. Our Airbnb flat has many guests visiting this area for the first time and they tell us they are looking for help on how to go about exploring the countryside safely and thoughtfully. We want to help small groups to have this rewarding experience and learn along the way about how to visit wilderness sustainably. We have a wealth of knowledge and experience to share about the history of life around here and what its like to live in this rural community today. There are countless species to look out for including red squirrels, beavers and mountain hare.

Where you'll be

We live on a sheep/cattle farm with only a field between us and Loch Tay looking over to the Ben Lawers mountain range. We have direct access to private shore line and ancient woodland and to hills, moorland and trails. Our village is tiny and so there is plenty of space and very few people so visitors will be immersed in nature and feel a real sense of wilderness and escape.
