What you'll do

Take a walking tour of the brutalist architecture of Sydney

We'll be visiting a variety of Sydney's brutalist icons, starting at the controversial Sirius Building in the Rocks and ending at award-winning Indigo Slam in Chippendale. I'll explain the history, background and architectural styles of the sites, as well as explain the broader network of brutalist buildings across Sydney. There will be plenty of photography opportunities and we will end with a drink at a local pub in Chippendale.

We approached a few of Sydney's finer Brutalist examples. Emma provided an insightful commentary exploring both the historical and present uses of each example. The tour was punctuated by a refreshments break, allowing for a much needed refuelling. Great for professional architects, architectural enthusiasts, art and history lovers, and the broader general public wanting to brush up on cultural affairs. Thanks Emma! A stimulating journey through a favorite architectural style!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Emma is highly knowledgeable, passionate about the subject and good company. I had come off a rather big night so was initially feeling weary, but the hours flew by with interesting conversation and a simply stunning walk throughout inner Sydney. Highly recommended.
