What you'll do

Lets make and bake sourdough bread and learn how to maintain a sourdough starter.

The workshop  can be guided in Japanese and English.

A light Brunch will be served with fresh sourdough bread, sourdough sweets and home made pastes, coffee and tea.
We live in the mountain side in a beautiful traditional Japanese house. lets enjoy the atmosphere and share the love to this ancient skill.

In Japan food culture there is so much beautiful fermented food but many people dont know much about fermented bread. we would like to share this knowledge.

The challenge with sourdough is that all the process can take 2 days. here we found away to do so in 6 hours.
 
- part 1 :10:00 - 12:40
folding our dough 4 times with breaks in between, learning how to mix all the dough ingredients in the right order. scoring and baking.
- part 2: 12:40 - 13:20
branch in the house or in our garden with mountain view
- part 3: 13:20 - 15:30
learn about fermentation while watching the dough growing, making your own starter that you can take back home.
pre-shaping and shaping the dough and time for your questions.
- Good by 16:00 :
workshop is coming to its end. since the dough needs to stay overnight in the fridge before baking, you can take dough you worked with today to bake at home the next morning, or we can bake it for you and send it over, or you can take freshly baked bread from us.

I enjoy living in nature, baking bread and hosting guests from Japan and all over the world.
I love bread and baking bread is part of my life.
you can say that sourdough bread is my comfort food, for sure.

I love Japanese food, and Japanese food culture is well known for being so delicious and healthy. But fermented bread is not part of it and I would love to share this traditional knowledge of baking healthy bread with you.

We are Airbnb hosts for 6 years and bamboo farmers.
We have a license for cooking and we cook for our guests.

Where you'll be

We live in the mountainside at a beautiful traditional Japanese house, and be happy to welcome you here to our house and kitchen,  so that you also can enjoy this special experience.

Our House is an authentic 100 years old Japanese House. The house is surrounded by green mountains, and we have a lovely garden where we can have our Brunch.

The kitchen is fully equipped  for our workshop.

期待以上の素晴らしい体験でした。 サワードウパンの面白さや奥深さを知ることができたし、イラさんのスペシャルレシピですごくすごく美味しいパンも食べられました。 パン教室と謳うだけではもったいない、自然に囲まれておしゃれで素敵なYui Valleyで過ごす一日の豊かさ、イラさんの気遣いが詰まったおもてなし、最高に美味しいランチ、すべてがリチャージさせてくれます。 パン作りにそこまで興味がない方でも充分満足できる体験になること間違いなしです。

とてもリラックスできる自然いっぱいの空間で、珍しいサワードゥ作りの体験と、美味しいランチ、お土産のパン、種の持ち帰りも付いて、1日リトリート を行ったような時間でした。 普通のクッキングクラスでは味わえない体験ができる場所です!
