What you'll do

Depending on your preference we'll begin our journey on either North Fork (north shore) or South Fork (south shore) of Long Island. If you have no preference we will meet at the North Fork County Park in Northville, NY. We'll walk through the woods past ponds and estuaries in search of lighthouses and other natural beauty and eventually end up on the beach. Well walk along massive drift wood trees and crawl on large boulders (if you like). We'll talk about the area we are in, take some pics, catch the sun set and maybe even go for a swim in the warmer months. Bring a snack or lunch for a picnic in the woods or on the beach. When we've concluded our hike we'll head back to our cars, pack up, and be on our way home.

Welcome to hiking on the beautiful east end of Long Island, NY. My name is Ashley Mangels and I will be your guide. I have been living here and exploring many of Long Islands best hikes throughout my life. From the cliffs and lighthouse on the south shore to the boulder and drift wood strewn beaches on north shore, to the bogs and marsh lands in between. I have thoughorly explored almost all of them and they are each more breathtaking then the last. Come on an adventure with me and let me show you some truly epic natural beauty.

Where you'll be

The north fork of Long Island is rocky with large boulders and drift wood tress littering the shore line. This is the body of water between Long Island and Connecticut, the sound. There are 3 lighthouses on this fork. The south fork is on the ocean side and is mostly made up of white sand beaches with a few rock jetties until you get towards the end. Here it starts to become rocky and cliffy and ends at the one and only lighthouse on this fork.
