What you'll do

Ride. Restore. (Re)connect.

Picture yourself meandering through the idyllic, mountain-framed grounds of an old 300-acre dairy farm located in the Blue Ridge Mountains. On each side you’re surrounded by some of the most stunning flora and fauna in the Eastern US.

The two-hour horseback ride takes place on Evan’s family farm in rural Barnardsville, NC. Lovingly referred to as “The Dairy,” the farm was operated from the 1930s until 2008 and has a history almost as beguiling as the land it’s on. (To boot: it used to sell milk to the famous Biltmore Estate!)

We’ll begin the trail ride by getting to know each other and our horses. After that, I’ll briefly explain the ins and outs of horseback riding. Whether you’re a seasoned rider or first-timer, a kid or a retiree, it doesn’t matter; anyone can do it. Then we’ll be off, gaining 400 feet of elevation and a lifetime of memories.

As a longtime rider and horse enthusiast, I own and operate my business with the mission of giving my guests an unforgettable horseback riding experience. I am convinced that everyone can take something meaningful from mountain trail rides, whether it’s connecting with nature, enjoying a rare moment of solitude, or familiarizing themselves with the incredible equine world. My rides are intimate, resulting in a semi-private riding experience designed to meet the needs of each rider.

I remember falling in love with horses at the age of three. I spent most of my childhood dreaming, reading, and talking about horses —and begging my parents to buy me one. They finally did (his name was Taco). I’ve been riding and taking care of horses ever since. Before college I worked for Teton National Park leading guided trail rides. Five years ago I created my dream career by combining my passions for the outdoors, horses, travel, and people. I continue to read, learn, and dream about horses. I look forward to sharing this amazing experience with you.

We had a lovely time riding with Joy. She was super accommodating and made everyone feel comfortable no matter the level of experience. Her horses were beautiful and very friendly. My steed Foxing was gorgeous and calm. The setting was stunning and magical!

Joy takes such loving care of all her horses and it really shows. They are so well-mannered and didn’t cause a single fuss. The property is beautiful, and I can only imagine it when the leaves are turning. It was definitely the highlight of my day!

If you're reading the reviews before you make a decision... just stop reading and book this experience! I did a solo trip to Ashville, NC and wanted a cool hiking experience in the mountains and stumbled on this trail ride and I am so glad that I did. This was definitely a memorable experience and Joy was remarkable! She's so pleasant and was very informative and helpful when it came to her horses. I had absolutely no experience with horseback riding and she made sure I was comfortable and at ease at all times. If I'm ever on that side again I will definitely book again. Thank you, Joy!

Amazing experience! Joy did such a great job balancing keeping us safe on the horses and pointing out scenery and telling stories. If I'm in the area again, I will be revisiting.
