I am an Artisan, Designer, Interior Architect, half baked writer and former Military Engineering Officer (RE). I am also a native of Highland Perthshire.

A prodigal son, if you will. Returned, after twenty years in London.

Over the last 8 years I have supported my Father ( the Castle Manager) in the running of events and the ongoing restoration of the Castle; which is lovingly administered by the Menzies Charitable Trust and supported by the inspirational members of the Menzies Clan Society.

My passion is in sharing insights the Castle has imparted and by bringing my experience to bear in a personal appreciation of why the castle was established, how it has weathered turbulent times and what we may learn from the past. Lessons, about human nature, that may just help us reinterpret the present and realise our true worth and purpose

This was an incredible, can’t miss experience for anyone who is interested in Scottish castles, culture, and history. Craig and David are kind and wonderful hosts who make Castle Menzies come alive. It’s also a rare opportunity to be able to see it at night by candlelight, to ask questions about ghost sightings (it’s definitely haunted) and to be able to share a dram of whisky at the end. We definitely want to return when more progress has been made on the restoration, especially the gardens. Sincere thanks to Craig and David for such a wonderful evening.

Exploring the castle by candlelight was a very special, immersive and enlightening experience. David and Craig - the father and son team that conduct the tour - told us about the individuals that had been important in the castle's past and put its presence into geographical, social, economic and historic context. They encouraged discussion, and were able to answer the questions we asked. We felt safe and comfortable throughout, and Craig made sure we were aware of any wonky steps or uneven surfaces. I learnt a lot without feeling overwhelmed and feel I have a much better understanding of what it meant to be in a clan - fascinating!

Both Craig & his father David were knowledgable and presented a phenomenal experience on history of the castle, the Menzies Clan and Scotland. The setting for a candle lit tour was perfect for a Halloween 👻 evening. The approach to the castle has a gothic bridge and a full moon gave it that extra spooky flare. A glass of whisky 🥃 was a perfect way to finish the tour. Thank you both. Slante 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Really enjoyed our evening tour at Menzies Castle and learned so much I didn’t know about Scottish History. Wasn’t an easy journey to get there because of the weather but so worth it when we did. Thank you.

What a fantastic and unique experience!! From the offset the hosts were very welcoming and adhered to Covid restrictions. The stories and information given throughout the tour were very in-depth and interesting but not overwhelming. Touring the castle by candlelight/torches in a very small group made for a very atmospheric and personal experience. Both Craig & David were clearly very passionate and engaging making it an interactive tour from the start which again made it differ from your standard daytime/guided or self-led tours. Loved beginning & ending the tour in the kitchen with the proper fire going and a really nice touch to be given a local whiskey to sample at the end.
