What you'll do

The experience starts at the Lion's Head parking area. We walk up the circular path to the start of the head proper. The route grade is "B". The views from the summit of Lions head at 660m is 360 degrees and totally breathtaking. You decide whether you want to take the more adventurous "chains" route or just a B scramble on a well established Path.
Other things to note
NOTE: If another time suits you we can change it. Lions Head is 670 meters high and we climb about 400 m, so a fair level of fitness is essential. There is mild exposure.

Where you'll be

Lions Head is most probably the most hiked mountain in the world and the 360 degree views from the top are magnificent. Lions Head is a sandstone massif plonked on top of a mudstone layer which itself is on top of underlying Cape Granite. We can enjoy a bite on top while taking wrap around pictures before descending to the cars once more.

I liked the tour with Keith. As it was hard for me to get to the meeting point, Keith waited for me for almost half an hour. But finally we did the hike within 2 hours, and we had really meaningful conversations on the way. I like listening to elder people who want to share their experience with the youth. Nice tour!

Keith was an amazing company and guide knowledgeable and has good background about hiking, shared his knowledge about the route and the plants all around, he is certified first responder you can feel safe while hiking with him, and he was flexible as he could with us because of the weather, he also took pictures of us, while we are hiking and shared it with us, it was a nice gesture, he offered us water and energy bar and coffee which wasn't included, suggested other activities to do it while we are staying in cape town, overall I totally suggest him as a guide if it's your first hike to lion's head.

Keith was an exceptional guide for our Lion's head hike. Myself and my 8-year-old daughter went on the hike with Keith. He picked us up from the hotel and brought us back after the hike. We did the sunset hike, and the views were majestic! Keith knew the trail like the back of his hand, he knew exactly where on the trail we needed to reach at each discrete time interval to witness the sunset and be back down by the time it was dark. I am convinced that I wouldn't have been able to get us down safely in time before dark had it not been for Keith. At one point Keith said that he has hiked up the Lion's head and Table Mountain over 2000 times, and there is no doubt in mind that he indeed has. He took great care with my 8-year-old, keeping her engaged and constantly ensuring that she was safely ascending and descending. We learned great tidbits about the city and about the flora as we hiked. Overall - excellent experience and highly recommend Keith for guiding a hike, you will be glad you’ve got him on your side as were we!

We've had wonderful experience with Keith. He picked us up early in the morning and told us a lot of interesting facts and stories about the South African nature. He was also happy to take pictures of us so we could have beautiful memories of this magnificent sunrise hike.

Keith picked me up for our morning hike on time, and hiked at a pace that I was comfortable with. Often when booking personal experiences (it was just Keith and I), you wonder if there will be any connection... We had conversations about rock climbing the mountain, fauna, Cape Town, our lives and much more which made the hike pleasant. This was a great experience! Thank you.

I did a hike up Lionshead with Keith in February 2020. He was super knowledgeable and friendly, and found a good balance between being adventurous and accommodating my needs. I highly recommend him.
