What you'll do

This 1 hour walking tour takes in the best of central Bath’s culinary scene with snippets of the city’s unique culinary heritage. You’ll hear tales of Bath’s food & drink history with details of Roman delicacies to what tickled-our-taste-buds in the 18th century and the time of Jane Austen.

More importantly, you’ll learn about all the great places to eat & drink from a local working in the city’s hospitality industry. This includes wine bars, cafes, and restaurants, as well as unique food & drink retail outlets.

Rather than including food samples on this tour, you'll have a personally tailored stroll around the city centre based on a number of questions we'll ask you at the start of the tour. That way we ensure you see and connect with the places which suit your palette.

We’ll even include a handout for you to take away, which lists all our personal favourite places in town to eat & drink!

I've worked as a tourist guide since 1990, and I've shared the Georgian city of Bath with visitors since 2010. It's a beautiful city renowned for its thermal springs, Roman remains, and beautiful architecture, but it also has an amazing food and drink scene.
The city is full of creative culinary artisans and I've spent time working with many of them on food tours and guided walks around the city. I've also worked in cafes and food retail outlets in town and now I'm putting all the knowledge and experience to use by sharing it with visitors!
I'll make sure you know about all the local secrets for the best places to eat and drink, and some great food & drink shopping too. I'll even tailor the tour to your personal tastes.

Where you'll be

We'll explore the best of the city's food & drink venues by walking around the city centre. I'll ask you a series of questions about what kind of food you like at the start of the tour and ensure you know the right places to go. If you have no preferences, I'll just get creative! I'll also share anecdotal and fun stories of the city's culinary heritage, all set to the backdrop of Bath's stunning architecture.

Really great tour! Mike is extremely knowledgeable, shared many interesting stories, and showed me beautiful locations. I’m definitely coming back for other tours with him, and this one is a must for anyone who wants to learn more about Bath.

Well where do I start! Mike really was a superb guide, warm, friendly, approachable and full of knowledge both historical and foodie! My family and I took the tour and Mike started by asking us all what our favourite foods were, ‘ PIZZA’ shouted the children! He then took us on a wonderful tour, through the beautiful winding streets pointing out cafes, restaurants, bakery’s, markets etc, introducing us to owners and staff, all intertwined with the incredibly interesting history of Bath. Highlights for me were the secret location of the only place you can see the original city wall, the AMAZING scotchies at GD cafe. The oldest cheesemongers with the best soft cheese I’ve ever had and the wonderful family run restaurant we had lunch in the following day. As an added bonus he also pointed out all the Bridgerton filming locations around Bath! I cannot recommend Mike highly enough, don’t hesitate to book a tour with him as you won’t be disappointed!
