What you'll do

I propose a relaxed walk through the region popularly known as Little Africa, which is in the seaport area of the City. Relaxed but full of reflections on racism, religious intolerance and about the Carioca culture. A great chat where the exchange of knowledge is always welcome.

The walk lasts an average of three hours. During this period we will pass on tourist attractions that include the Historical and Archaeological Circuit of Celebration of the African Heritage, among others. I will present the region of Gamboa, known in the past as Health. I will also present numerous attractions that can be explored by you after the walk or at another opportunity, according to your disposition and enthusiasm.

To realize this Experience I count on the help of Gabriela Palma and Adriana J. Gabi has a tourism agency focused on the residents of Rio de Janeiro, she is a tourism guide and teacher. She is passionate about the world of tourism. Adriana is a tour guide and passionate about the City Center of Rio de Janeiro and is very proud of her city, awarded for its architecture.
He worked in the organization of the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic games and followed closely a revitalization of spaces that today bring us leisure and culture.
When I can't guide you, Gabi or Adriana will do this.
Other things to note
Wear light and fresh clothes, and comfortable shoes. The tolerance time is fifteen minutes. Be punctual!

I'm a tourist guide and historian from UERJ - State University of Rio de Janeiro. Work with historical-cultural tourism with an emphasis on afro-referenced narrative. I have already coordinated two social projects and worked on several projects with young people in a situation of social vulnerability in different communities of the city. I develop this project in Little Africa with the objective of showing the participation of black people in the cultural formation in Rio. I have lived in Rio since I was born and love to walk around the city listening stories and enjoying in sights, tastes and people.

If you are only doing one Airbnb experience in Rio, let it be this one. I did this tour on my last day in Rio and it was the one I enjoyed the most. Luana gives you the real history of Little Africa that you can’t find on google. I enjoyed every second and only wished I had brought my family as well. The city was gorgeous from Luanas point of view and I learned so much in such a small amount of time.

Luana was great. She was very knowledgeable in what she does and highly recommend this when with her in Rio. She made the experience both fun, and safe. Will certainly do this again when returning to Rio.

This is one if the best tours I’ve done here in Rio. It was amazing hearing and seeing the untold story of the Afro-Brazilian experience here in the city. As an African-American, I was genuinely moved by this experience. Highly recommend everyone to take this tour while here in Rio!

This location has a rich history you would not immediately perceive simply walking around. Luana has shared this history in a passionate and educative way; each point we stopped at was magical. I highly recommend touring this location with her, you will definitely learn a lot. Luana is friendly, funny, and welcoming, and really knows the community here. I almost missed this tour due to time constraints, and am so glad I was able to make it!

We thoroughly enjoyed the walk which was incredibly engaging. Adriana who lead our tour was very knowledgable and passionate about making the hidden history of black people in Rio more visible, she was also sensitive and respectful towards the neighbourhood and its inhabitants. We learnt a lot and the pace of the tour was very good, highly recommended!
