What you'll do
Welcome to Nazare Beach!
We begin in the heart of the historic fishing town and dive deep into what old Nazare use to be like.
We'll admire the elaborate 'sete saias' still worn today by the women, talk a little about trawl fishing, and discuss all things dried fish related at the Museu do Peixe Seco.
Then it's off to the vibrant Mercado da Nazare where local life really does come alive. I'll point out regional delicacies, show you unique Portuguese ingredients and even buy you a small treat to eat.
From here, we head to Pederneira for an off-the-beaten-path look of the beach.
We'll visit the quirky church with mix-matched architecture and relax at a deserted miradouro that so many visitors miss out on.
From our perch, we descend to the narrow streets and weave towards the 130-year-old electric Nazare funicular to climb up! Up 1043 feet, over 300 meters to Sitio Nazare and Praia do Norte.
Here, in the land of wacky legends and Guinness world records, we end our walk with a guided tour of the Nazare Lighthouse and surfboard museum because no visit is complete without a Nazare Beach big wave discussion.
Other things to note
Each guest receives 5€ worth of extras and inclusions. Talk about value!
If it rains, I have a plan. Last stop is the Lighthouse. Stairs are involved but there are alternatives.

Hi, I’m Amylee,
A Portuguese-Canadian, red wine lover, seven-time bungee jumper and a 15-year-travel agent veteran turned tour guide here in beautiful Nazare Beach Portugal.
I grew up working at my parent's Portuguese bakery and then owned a pizzeria or two.
I'm an Azulejo advocate, street art aficionado and I guess you can call me a bit of a history buff as well too.
I’ve lived in Canada, Australia, England, one glorious month in Los Angeles California, and now I'm proud to add Portugal to the list.
Nazare Beach is a 'see it to believe it,' kind of place. And I hope it's me who gets to show you around.

WOW!!!! What an amazing tour!!! Amylee is an exceptional tour guide! She showed us a side of Nazare that, I believe, few know exists.
As we are in Portugal during off season, it ended up just being my boyfriend and I on this tour which gave it an extra personal feel. I would say that even if you are in a group, Amylee will give you that special, personal touch.
Amylee has done her own personal research on Nazare. She showed us sights that are not listed in the tour websites and without Amylee’s expert guidance, we would have missed out on an incredible side of Nazare that, I believe, few people know exists.
We never felt rushed on our tour and I feel we left Nazare having made a new friend. Thank you Amylee for sharing your love for this beautiful city and for making our day so special!
