What you'll do

We will meet under the Water Tower near Cafe Restaurant Amsterdam. I live right around the corner and will tell you a little about the neighborhood. After that we will take 10-15 minutes to make sure everyone is comfortable on their bike.

Our first stop is Amsterdam’s most iconic windmill. From there we head to Westerpark and check out its beautiful art sculptures. Just behind Westerpark we'll visit a neighborhood called Spaarndammerbuurt. It is famous for its architectural style called The Amsterdam School, which greatly inspired Gaudí.

Next we will visit the Houthavens (the former Lumber Port) which is currently under transition from an industrial and polluting part of town into a sustainable residential area. From there we'll take the ferry over the IJ river and head to the NDSM wharf in Amsterdam-North. We'll see loads of street art, graffiti and pop-up art from local prospective artists.

Crossing back over the river IJ we will head to a completely untouched part of the old city. There we will see the canals and old canal houses in their authentic setting without so many people around. Finally, we'll head back to Westerpark and end the tour with a refreshing drink.

The meeting point is under the white water tower next to David Goliath Bikes. However, I don't run the tour from the bike shop. Just wait patiently by the water tower and I will meet you there!

Where you'll be

During the bike tour we will see a nice mix of art, architecture, history and my personal favourite hang outs in Amsterdam. We start with Amsterdam's iconic windmill. I love Westerpark for its many art sculptures. Spaarndammerbuurt showcases some of the finest architectural wonders of The Amsterdam School. Later we will cross the IJ river to check out the NDSM warf where many local underground artist come together. I love this place for its vibe.

Best bike tour, we have ever experienced. Well thought-out concept, so we got many impressions abut Amsterdam and durch culture. The tour was also unique because it showed us new places besides the crowded tourist areas we have never been to. My teenage daughter loved it and never got bored. Highly recommendable!

Title: Personalized bike tour tailored to us Pim is an exceptional, adventurous tour guide who knows Amsterdam in all its facet. We were provided with typical Dutch bikes and got to know and appreciate the iconic city off the beaten track. Pim prepared us for everything possible: Road rule #1: cyclists actually always have the right of way. Bike rule #2: if you make a mistake, follow through, the other road users already anticipate what your intentions are. And wonderfully it worked!   In particular, we would like to highlight the brilliant knowledge that Pim has about the architecture and history of Amsterdam. To date, Paris, Oslo and Vienna had been the top bike tours for me but Amsterdam off the beaten track with Pim was effectively the most iconic excursion!

Bikes are very comfortable as you are seated upright on the saddle rather than leaning forward. So good for older folks. Very interesting information mixed with Pim’s humor. My teenagers loved it. And I did too. Thank you for answering all their questions! We had fun while immersing in “off the beaten track” history and culture.

Mal machen:)

This bike tour with Pim has been a blast ! I would recommend it to all local expats, baby Amsterdamers and tourists wanting to know beyond what meets the eye. Pim took us through the cool West and North of the city - biking around the real Amsterdam, finding out local / social / pragmatic Dutch culture, beauties and hidden gems about this city. And some of what is so great about the Dutch! Pim is super knowledgeable - as a pure local, curious and open-to-the-world kind of knowledgeable - he told us the “interesting stuff” like a friend giving us a tour of their favourite neighbours. He is super attentive and flexible, providing everything we needed, and pacing the tour. Loved everything about it, I highly recommend.
