About your host

I was born and raised here at the farm and have been training working sheepdogs from a young age, including training dogs for national sheepdog trial winner Thomas Longton. I have a deep knowledge of the flora and fauna here in the South Pennines. The farm itself is on the edge of Holcombe Moor site of special scientific interest which is protected by law due to the abundance of rare wildlife…

What we’ll do

To start with we will make sure you're well equipped for the weather - welly boots, warm layers and waterproofs. Dress appropriately for the weather on the day as we don't always have the right size boots/ coats to lend out. Once you're kitted up we will go and let out the hens, collect the eggs and weigh them out on the egg grader ready for sale to our local customers. We will then go and check…

What else you should know

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding you should not touch the sheep or the goats.

What I’ll provide

Food
Breakfast an egg sandwich (from the eggs you've just collected) and a hot drink with milk from the cows you've just seen.

What to bring

Welly boots, warm layers, waterproofs, sun cream, long sleeved top and long sleeved trousers. Dress for the weather but with long sleeves if possible.

Where you'll be
