What you'll do

If you want to have an insider look of how China is fundamentally different from western societies in many ways, this experience will take you to the perspective from ordinary Beijinger's lives, which made up this unique economy. We will start with the famous finance CBD of Beijing, visit the China World Trade Center, where I will introduce to you the new Beijingers' lives in perspectives of how Chinese history has influenced people's economic status, children's education, work-life balance, etc. Then we will shift to explore the ancient Hutongs (narrow alleys) that hold the memories of Beijing life, both for ordinary people and for the Royals from Qing Dynasty. In the Hutongs, we will walk past some previous royal yards, an original local market, restaurants hidden in Hutongs. Seeing how old Beijingers live in these ancient Hutongs in the middle of the modern city. We will start with Maoer Hutong, which leads to a Hutong complex named Nanluoguxiang, where we will visit some of the crafts stores that host intricate Chinese crafts.

As a native Chinese, I aspire to bridge this gap of understanding between the Chinese and the western tourists by face-to-face experiences between people from these two cultures. I was a museum host, founder of an ecotourism program, and studied sociology and biology when I was in a Liberal Arts college in the US. I went to Tanzania for an exchange program with seven homestays across the country, including a kraal with a Maasai family. I have also traveled to many places in China including the grasslands in Inner Mongolia, glacier lakes in Tibet, Ningxia desert, etc.
