What you'll do

After a short briefing we will depart from Ubud on small country roads and head towards the mountains. The scenery is beautiful: groves of palm trees and rice fields. There is a hilly landscape with rice fields, literally thousands years old! We do a leisurely easy trek for 45 min and you will get introduced to a very sophisticated natural irrigation system and a lot of tropical plants and fruits. After the trek ends the Safari Jeeps will pick you up and drive you to a 900 year old meditation cave, mostly unknown to the tourists.
From there we are reaching out to the mysterious world of Bali's volcanoes. We drive into the 28000 year old caldera of Kintamani, and cross the wild extraordinary lava fields at the slope of Mt Batur. We do photo stops and walks along the way.
Later we have a delicious lunch buffet on the rim of the caldera with amazing vistas.
The way back to Ubud is as beautiful as the way up and we pass old Balinese villages and incredible scenery. We visit an old temple with a purifying holy spring and weathered old overgrown antic statutes. If time allows, we finally visit a plantation with all kind of spices and tropical fruits at the end of our jeep tour.
Other things to note
It is a cabriolet ride in a 40 years old vintage VW safari jeep. We want to show you some of the untouched original Bali, off the beaten trek. This is not the classical central Bali tour for tourists.

I discovered Bali myself by motorbike for years. Later I became a licensed tour guide. As a Balinese I know first hand about Bali and its ancient Hindu Culture. I like to show my island off the beaten track.

We had a wonderful time with Wayan (our guide) and Wayan (our driver). The car is so incredibly fun to drive in and explore Bali. We loved that our lunch and entrance fees were included, which is usually not the case. Staying with the rice fields, Wayan was so knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. It was a rare opportunity to walk through the rice fields and really understand the entire process and the importance of rice in Bali. The temples were visited were beautiful and secluded with no or very few tourists. It was amazing to take the car down to the black lava of Mt. Batur and walk around at the base of the mountain. The view for lunch was unforgettable. We absolutely loved this tour. It was a fantastic day!

Easy meet up directions. Wonderful experience for our family 2 adults and kids 13 and 8 years. We walked around the rice fields and has a great explanation of farming life, crops fruits etc of region. We then went to the base of Mt Batur and explored the volcanic lava from last eruption in 1963 I think! The open top cars were wonderful weaving through the villages was so lovely. We had a buffet lunch with breathtaking views. Then Lawak coffee, temple visit were offered but we skipped these over returning to hotel early and wayan graciously agreed. Drivers were lovely safe and respectful. A lovely refreshing way to go off the tourist track and explore the real Ubud!

We had a wonderful day with the two hosts. To see the rice fields and learn about the plantation process was very interesting. The view over the fields is awesome and a must see on Bali. We had a stunning view at the Mt. Batur and the volcano fields. We loved to learn about the Hindu religion at the temple. The team was really friendly and we felt comfortable from the first second on.

They pick us up on time, always show their care to the group, explain the rice field structure to us and bringing us to the great spots. We would not be able to do it on our own. Thank you!
