What you'll do

We’ll gather at South Shaanxi Road metro station (L1/10/12), ext 7. First stop is a local eatery where we get some soy milk, tofu soup, wonton, deep fried pork/dough, etc. Next we’ll have a sticky rice ball with sesame paste inside as dessert. Then we'll taste the famous xiaolongbao (steamed buns with pork fillings) right from steamers. After that we’ll walk to a yellow wine (rice wine bellow 20', a specialty in the area) spot to taste several wines (all jars directly from the breweries with better taste), it's at a residential area where people still live like the old days and you can see the old houses, local stores, and even barber shop on the street sometimes. Then we’ll go have some spicy duck neck and lotus root if you fancy spicy. Last eating place will have pan fried buns, Shanghainese noodles, etc. With a full stomach we'll go to an old book store, sip tea there while looking at various antiques and talking about Chinese culture if you're interested. Then we'll end the tour with a cup of boba tea next to Tianzifang, a famous tourist attraction that you can explore on your own later.

Hi everyone I’m Iris!:) I’m passionate for food and love sharing good food I find with others. Shanghai is one of the best cities for food and night life and I’d love to show you around in the beautiful French concession eating authentic and delicious local food and enjoy Chinese tea and local wines. Having grown up in China and studied in US, I can communicate very well with you in English about everything you want to know about Chinese food, culture and history. Let’s eat some good food and get great tea and drinks together!

Where you'll be

All are nice places with quality meat and decent decor. I had a business competitor (Maylasian Chinese, speaks Mandarin and been to SH many times) joining the tour, he documented every address and dish and said his company's thinking about hosting clients like I do. He's the only one who writes a negative review, which lowered my rating a lot. I hope I won't encounter that again and if you're a business competitor I'll have to ask you to leave.
