What you'll do
You can travel here by car or in the comfort of the train. I’ll be waiting at Maienfeld railway station to take you on a wonderful but not too strenuous wine hike. We’ll make our way through the historical village of Maienfeld and then through unparalleled vineyards nestled at the foot of the Swiss Alps. It is utterly impressive! During our first stop amidst the vines, I’ll provide you with some interesting insights into the work of the vineyard manager. What do they have to do to ensure the vines produce the right quality of grape in October? You’ll later find yourself in an amazing wine cellar, where you’ll discover some secrets of winemaking and how the grape makes its way to your glass. Speaking of which, you’ll be tasting five to six wines accompanied by local cheeses and dried-meat specialities from the surrounding Alps and valleys. Your hike ends back at the railway station in Maienfeld.
I have been showing guests the area where I grew up since 2013 – Bündner Herrschaft and Heidiland. I built up my knowledge of wine during my time as a hotel manager and by studying oenology, and went on to learn a lot from the wine producers in the region. I am really committed to my role as host and love sharing stories about these magnificent wines.
