What you'll do

Put on your walking shoes & come exploring the local wild plants of the Peak District! We will learn about medicinal & culinary uses for many of the plants we find, with some history, Folk-lore & anecdotes. Be prepared for the world to look a little different when you return, since you will probably be astonished just how interesting so many of our common wild plants are!
These Herb Walks are relaxed & gentle, normally lasting about 2 hours, with plenty of time to stop & get to know the plants, including tasting & making tea with them where appropriate! If you want to make a wild herb tea, please bring your own flask of boiling water. This is a great experience for couples and private groups.
Guests are required to keep 2 meters apart from anyone who is not “in their social bubble” until government guidelines change.
Please bring a waterproof jacket in case it rains!, wear appropriate clothing, footwear & face masks if needed. Please bring adequate sun protection and drinking water if it looks to be hot!

I am a qualified & experienced Medical Herbalist, with a BSc. Hons in Herbal Medicine. I won the National Institute of Medical Herbalists "Dorothy Carole Award for Best Final Clinical Exam" in 2016. I have lived in the Hope Valley, Derbyshire for over 20 years, and have always spent a lot of time walking dogs & foraging. I have a profound understanding of plants, having also also been a gardener & created my own Forest Garden.
I have a BA in Modern Languages, & enjoy researching the history & folk lore of our local wild plants. I also practice Equine Facilitated Learning, & am a beekeeper.

Had a fantastic time with Anna on the wild herb walk. Anna had such a wealth of knowledge and is so passionate about herbs and their uses - the time on our walk flew by! We loved making some herbal tea and enjoying it on the walk. Would thoroughly recommend this to anyone in the area and would love to do another of Anna’s walks in the future.

Anna was really knowledgeable and organized our walk such that we got information in bite sized chunks that were easy to swallow. It was really great learning about some local herbs and seeing her passion for them. The dog Pepper was also a great co-guide. Would definitely come back to learn even more!

This is such a wonderful experience. Anna is lovely and very approachable and sociable. More than that - she has an incredible amount of knowledge about the wildlife. We ambled through the stunning countryside learning about all sorts of plants before settling out of the wind to have some tea (which was perhaps the best I’ve ever drunk!). Anna was very thoughtful and attentive and even though I have CFS and can’t walk too far or quickly - Anna ensured the walk was easy and comfortable. A wonderful way to spend the afternoon. I’ll be back!

Anna's tour was magical. Packed full of so much info on the local area and its herb-life. Her passion, knowledge and enthusiasm helped to us to engage with the Peak District (and plant-life itself) in a whole new way.

Was a wonderful way to get a tour of the surrounding nature, and by looking for herbs you really pay close attention to the world around you and see things you would otherwise miss. This trip would be a good fit for people who are spiritually minded, which personally I am not but I came to experience another worldview and I was invited into it with an abundance of warmth.
