What you'll do
Every building has a story to tell, from the materials, technology, and styles favored when it was constructed, to the people who designed, built, lived and worked there. Events of historic proportion take place in and around buildings as well. Come with me on this journey to discover all the secrets each building on our tour is waiting to tell us.
We will be walking through Old City, visiting the oldest continuously occupied residential street in the United States, and seeing the same buildings the Founding Fathers worked and worshiped in. Whether your interest is architecture, American History, visiting the places where Ben Franklin and George Washington lived and worked, or humming a tune from the Hamilton play as we experience Philadelphia as the Capitol of the United States, this tour is for you!
Other things to note
Bring cameras as there is much to photograph. Snacks that you like are good to have, or there are plenty of stores along the way. A hat and comfortable shoes are also a good idea to wear.

I am a Registered Architect who has lived in the City of Philadelphia since 1978. After taking a walking tour with famed City Planner Ed Bacon, I was inspired to give similar experiences of the city.
Currently residing in the Old City area of Philadelphia, I would love to introduce you to the only World Heritage City in the U.S.

Has a great depth of knowledge and he took us to places that often were woven together by history which kept my interest. I was pleased that it was not just a cookie-cutter tour where the you play the “what type of house is this, who made it, and how long did it take?” Game. I’d recommend this tour and any other tours he has :)

Reid was an amazing guide. We had a chance to have him on our own as it was in December during Holliday time and pandemic. I could not expect better experience. He adapted all storytelling to our kids asking them questions and acting as a marvelous teacher. There was no way we could just read or make our research on our own to learn all we learned with him. At any point we have been bored, all information was accurate and very well told. We love architecture and learn about it. As in December 2020 all museums were closed Reid tour brightened our stay in Philadelphia giving us access to history and architecture of this amazing city.

Reid was a phenomenal host and tour guide. His 2 hour walking tour of Old City in Philadelphia could not have been more informative. His architectural background coupled with his knowledge of the city's history made for an exceptional afternoon of learning. We had a fabulous time strolling the streets while learning more about Philly's past and present. We highly recommend the tour as it's well worth the time! Thank you to Reid who did such a fabulous job.

Reids enthusiasm for colonial history, life and the architecture was complete and infectious. He had all four of us diving right into colonial Philadelphia with his knowledge of the facts and his recollections of the colonial history and politics. Sprinkled throughout the tour were lively stories from the lives of Ben Franklin, Hamilton, William Penn and many of the other actors. He is the best!

Fantastic walking tour of colonial Philly. Our host, Reid, was incredibly knowledgeable of both the history and architecture of old philadelphia buildings and could turn that history into stories that kept us eagerly listening for the full 2 hours.
