What we’ll do

A full-day map reading and navigation course will set you up with the basics of using a map and compass effectively and confidently over lowland terrain. You'll begin by learning some basic map reading skills, including symbols, scales, grid systems, and grid references, before heading out into the countryside to put your new-found knowledge into practice. No previous experience of map and compass work is necessary, but a good general level of fitness will be required as we'll be walking for approximately four hours.

Where you'll be

We'll be combining the hills of Overton, Frodsham and Helsby on this energetic course, enjoying thickly wooded cliffsides, grassy valleys, sandstone trails, bronze-age hilltop settlements, and stunning views across the Mersey estuary towards Liverpool, Chester, and the Welsh mountains.
