Funny Side Up Highlight WalkingTour With Ancient Cellar

Vienna, Austria

Experience hosted by Timea

What you'll do

We will start our walk at the feet of the only (!!) female ruler of Austria, Maria Theresa - sure enough you will also find out the reason behind this.... After we will stroll through some of the landmark spots downtown Vienna, such as the Hofburg - the former imperial winter residence, the elegant Herrengasse, some hidden alleys, the high-end shopping street Graben - here I will show you where and why Casanova got fined by the police.
Eventually we will end up in front of the majestic-mysterious St. Stephan's Cathedral with and incredible symbolism. In the meantime you will listen to funny - and often true - stories about the former imperials's good/bad/weird habits, the first "game-changer" public toilet, experience the marks left by the ancient romans..
Also, you will find out how the wine, again and again changed the course of Vienna's history, it's architecture, ideas of reproduction etc.. -"In vino veritas" - "In wine there's truth" - so we will end our little adventure in one of the most spectacular wine cellars in town, walk 3 - 4 stories down under the surface of the earth - and I tell you the surprising truth behind its architecture! After, if you feel like, you can try some nice Austrian wines right on the spot.
IMPORTANT: on Sundays and on holidays the cellar is closed. The good news is, that I'll show you more and equally amazing things instead.

I adore history, art, their rich symbolism, the imperial family, the old and modern Vienna with its peculiarities... I think I'm good at finding (often very unusual) connection between people, events, venues, facts and I know how to present them with ease - it's essential to me that my guests are entertained and receive meaningful information at the same time... Vienna has a wonderful history, and through this walk - "powered" by wine and fun stories (hopefully) they will have a really positive and enriching experience - and a great time.

Timea was a complete gem. She has such a passion for Vienna and that came out in her tour and fun stories! As a wine lover, she tied so much history back to wine and how it has played into the Vienna we know today. She gave me excellent food and wine recommendations as well as a tour through a wine cellar I never would have found without her! Definitely recommend.
