What you'll do
We will meet at Hominy Creek put in on the French Broad River, where we’ll get introduced to the bellyak and each other. We will paddle a leisurely two miles downstream, with the Biltmore Estate on one side and the greenway on the other. We’ll end near the River Arts district, where we will take a short drive back to the top. Like to bike? Park at the bottom and ride your bike to the top along the greenway, I have a covered trailer you can park your bike in. This is a flat water trip with some current. Suitable for almost all ages and abilities. You can choose your pace, whether you want to relax and enjoy the scenery or get a great workout, we can accommodate.
Shuttle in a minivan We can bring you back to your vehicle at the top.
Bellyak PFD and webbed gloves
I’m a water lover, entreprenuer and inventor of the Bellyak, the worlds first prone kayak. I love showing guests the aquatic side of Asheville. I’m a professional prone paddling instructor and bluegrass fiddle player. Bellyak would be a household name if I could get off the water long enough to work!
Where you'll be
The French Broad River is the second oldest river in the world, and home to many types of birds, fish, reptiles and hippies in innertubes, and everything in between. We will be paddling a very calm and scenic section of the French Broad that is a perfect start or end to the day, or just a quick mid-day adventure. There is a greenway following the entire route, you can easily park your vehicle at the bottom and walk/bike/jog/Onewheel to the top.
