What you'll do

Join me for a walk through the dunes, as we identify and sample some of the overlooked, nutritious and often delicious species growing there.

Did u know you can actually eat sea buck thorns and what the benefits are, or how Dutch seaweed taste like or that you can make capers out of flower buds?

I am excited to offer another wild edible plant walk in Den Haag.

The walk is often not more then 1km. Make sure you take a bottle of water with you and be prepared to taste some greens you have never tasted before.

I will prepare some little bites from the plants that are discussed in the walk.

When I was a kid, I used to go foraging with my family. Collecting nuts and berries so my mom could make the most delicious jams. It was a nice combination between playing, foraging and learning at the same time.
In my training as a Shiatsu therapist, I came into contact with Chinese medicinal plants. That got my interest in medicinal, but also in wild edible plants again.
A few years ago I followed a course in Herboriste and I also did several courses in Permaculture. Because of this I have learned even more. In the last 5 years I organized plant walks and plantwalk dinners by appointment.

Where you'll be

I can do this walk in any place, but we will be in the most natural place in The Hague.

We will walk through the dunes to the sea and depending on time and fitness of the group, we can even catch some seaweeds.

Or in the Parc at the end of tramline 9 (gather at the tramstop De Dreef). An amazing piece of The Hague as well. Where big grazers are often seen. Uithofpark. And wild edibles are always in abundance.

Kitty was our guide for this experience and we had a wonderful time. She was warm and friendly as well as knowledgeable. The weather was beautiful making the walk a delight. The food she prepared for us was a nice treat also,
