What you'll do

The course starts with a welcome cup of tea where we can get to know each other. Then we will work as a group and begin baking our Bath Buns. We all have a chance to be hands on with the dough stretching and really have fun and get stuck in. Whilst the buns rise on the Aga I will talk to you about the origins and history of Bath Buns and how they were Jane Austin’s favourite treat.......we continue with the process and once again they will need to rise, while this is happening you will have the choice to go on a short 30 minute walk around the lovely countryside of Freshford village, or we Canberra whip up some quick homemade strawberry jam! We will do some final preparation before our Buns go into the Aga for a short cook while we all relax with a lovely refreshing drink and a chat. To end the experience you will sit down to eat the delicious Bath Buns with clotted cream and homemade jam. At the end of the experience you will go home with a life long skill to make traditional, scrumptious Bath Buns that you can pass on to further generations.

Where you'll be

The experience is at my home, build in 1906, and is in a beautiful woodland sanctuary setting on the edge of the famous Limpley Stoke valley, renowned for its tranquility. The walk will be across a field past a 1000 year old church, St Mary’s, Freshford, and through a typical English countryside setting. We will walk past the village farm stop where local produce can be purchased including bread, wine, cheese etc.
